Panel Page Flip 2.0 just landed

Panel Page Flip 2.0 just landed on comics.starbugstone.com. The official line is “stability review”; the practical line is that everything that shipped into 2.0 got one more careful pass before being called done. Here’s what’s actually user-facing.

For readers

• Library navigation stays in view. When you’re scrolling a long list of comics, the sidebar / navigation now sticks instead of scrolling off. Subtle thing, the kind where once you have it, going back to scrolling-away nav feels broken.
• Sequences sort the way you’d expect. A series titled Vol 1, Vol 2 … Vol 9, Vol 10 used to land in the library as Vol 1, Vol 10, Vol 11, Vol 2 because alphabetical and numerical order disagree on what comes after 9. The new auto-rename pads sequence numbers (Vol, Issue, Chapter, Part, …) to a consistent width, so the library list reads the way you actually read the volume number. Punctuation, casing, and any zeroes you typed stay exactly as you wrote them.
• Content reports got a real overhaul. The reference flow now distinguishes between a Panel Page Flip invitation link, a sharing code, a user code, an account reference, and an external URL — because “paste the link” and “name the comic” are different requests, and asking for both at once is how a report came back with neither. Submissions are also hardened against bots (canonical Turnstile environment names, better bot-resistance in the public form).

For admins

• Range filters on every admin table. Date ranges, count ranges, dual-handle sliders where they’re useful.
• Sort and filter on every column of every admin table. No more “this table is sortable but that one isn’t”.
• Label-aware controls on the filter bars so the inputs read like the data they touch.

Under the hood

The PR #193 release-stability review ran over everything that landed in 2.0 and pushed fixes for the audit findings. The code-quality pass that came with it split some big controllers and views into smaller, more focused pieces — user-update policy, share-invitation mail, comic route responsibilities, dashboard / settings / account composition on the frontend. None of this changes what the reader does; it makes what’s there easier to keep stable.

New docs landed too: branch roles and a “no divergence on protected branches” rule, so future PRs stay mergeable.

What’s next

The plumbing for Google sign-in is in place but not yet switched on (you’ll see google: false from the providers endpoint until the OAuth credentials are configured). Once Stone has the credentials wired up, the toggle flips and the button appears on the login screen.
