Comics 2.1 is being prepared, with improvements to browsing a library, filtering results and recovering from errors. Here’s what’s changing in the next release.

Less duplicated interface code. The reader, library, settings and admin screens now share their common layout. Unused sharing components and interface helpers have also been removed, and an automated check flags unused code. The aim is to keep the application lighter as more features are added.

Better handling of awkward cases. Very large page numbers and issue numbers now have bounds checks. Login handling has been tightened so an expired session doesn’t appear active. Pages can show an explanation and a retry button when something fails, while password-recovery requests retry temporary service errors.

More useful filters. On phones, the tag picker opens in a scrollable panel with a visible Apply button. Admin filters search the full database, rather than just the current page of rows. Sharing tables can filter by status and date, and the library, settings and admin screens use the same responsive filter layout.
