Meet Prospect Hollow, Crystal Cascade’s new village

Update — 19 September 2026: This is the early village introduction from September 6. The game is now called Prospect Hollow and has eight eras. See the released-build guide and save export and import. The twelve-chapter scope and translation notes below describe the earlier version.

Crystal Cascade now opens into Prospect Hollow, a small Far West village that grows as you complete puzzles in the mine. The twelve-chapter jewel-matching game is still underneath it, with a town to build around your progress.

Arriving in Prospect Hollow

The new opening is labelled Prospect Hollow, Chapter 01 — Un nouveau départ, or “a fresh start”. It’s a pastel desert scene with trees, cacti, building plots and a mine entrance visible from the saloon.

  • Puzzles support the village. The village display tracks water, food and inhabitants alongside the building work.
  • Buildings develop in stages. The current plots include houses, a saloon, well, farm, mine, sheriff’s building and stables. Their progress meters show how far you are towards the next stage.
  • Projects have names. The first is La ferme du Trèfle, or Clover Farm, shown here with two of its three puzzles completed.
  • Inhabitants are part of the village resources. The counter is already present, with more visible resident activity planned for later versions.
  • French is the default language in this build. The English translation is still being completed. Reports of untranslated text are welcome.

An early version of the village

This is still an alpha. The screenshot shows the playable build, with placeholder artwork, missing residents and some rough edges in the interface. It uses the recent performance update to the puzzle engine, including quicker cascades and improved input handling.

Plans for the next stage

Two areas are being considered next:

  • Server-side saves. Progress currently relies on local browser storage. The plan is to store progress, village state and projects on a backend, making it easier to continue playing and understand where progression gets stuck.
  • A dedicated address. Moving away from crystal-cascade.vercel.app is planned alongside the backend work. The final address hasn’t been decided yet.

Try the current build

You can try the alpha at crystal-cascade.vercel.app. If you last played before the performance update, you’ll find changes to both the puzzle handling and the way you enter the game.

The repository, issue tracker and performance notes are at github.com/StarbugStone/Crystal-Cascade. Feedback on the buildings and village progression will help shape the next version.
